I just got home from a social. I went stag as dh wanted to get to bed early so he could do inline speed skating provincials tomorrow, or maybe he just wanted to sleep in...
The social was for a woman I don't really know. She is a colleauge/co-worker/friend of Jay's, she's married, has an 8 and 2 year old and she has had cancer for the last 2 years. As of 2 weeks ago the Canadian medical system says there is nothing more that can be done for her, she has (I think) max, 1 year to live. That day she and her friends began planning this social - to raise money, mabye for a trip for her family to take and enjoy themselves. Just in the last few days she's heard that Mayo clinic reviewed her file and they can offer her some hope. She goes on Tuesday to begin treatment.
WOW, she fully believes in the care she will receive and that she will go into remission. How amazing. I am in awe at her ability to remain firm in her belief and her hope in the future. That is faith, in the process, the doctor's or maybe a higher power.
God bless M - I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. And may we all face the trials in our lives with the attitude and courage that this woman shows.
Don't stop believing.
