Who's the best?

E had some friends from the "city" over tonight. Y is at camp so this was her chance to just have the place to herself. Couldn't have a bonfire as its tinder dry around here, but they managed to roast hot dogs in the little pit. Fun. E has a good group of friends. Its nice to have them all over. 13 year olds can be quite entertaining. Currently they are all (5 in total) jammed in the little trailer and hubby is pulling them around the lot on his ATV. So I tell you - right now he's the best. You'd think they were at the fair for all the screaming going on. Not a care in the world. Love to just be a fly on the wall and listen to their converations. I guess the ATV ride is in leu of the lawn tractor races they wanted to hold...

I'm on holidays now BIG GRIN!!!! :D Sunday we'll leave for the west. Anticipating some very good times!! Talking all night, maybe some golf (yes i kind of know how), a few runs and time on the lake. Sounds like a holiday to me! Don't really care what we do as long as its not at work!!

Came downstairs earlier to find Rascal (cat) sitting on the kitchen counter looking out the window. I come in the room and she turns her head as if to say "oh hi, just catching the view". DOWN I yell, not allowed on the counter for pete's sake!! They can go anywhere but near where I prepare food!! A little anal you say? oh well. MY COUNTER. At night I can't catch her for trying (to go sleep in the girls rooms - don't want them to set off the alarm in the night). But sitting on the counter I was able to pick her up no problem - figured she owns the place!! That's cats for you...

Picking up Y from camp tomorrow - I miss her... can't wait to hear all about it. They don't let you phone unless there is an emergency. For the good of the camper they say... It always seems like she's grown an inch in a week and gotten 2x as independent. Growing up way too fast...

OH MY GOODNESS

Can you say perma grin?? I LOVED Chicago. Wow can those people dance, sing, act... It was fantastic - how could it not be? Men wearing thee tightest pants you have EVER seen and fishnet shirts... oh yeah and the women wore fishnet stockings with what pretty much amounted to just underwear... the dancing was amazing!! We were in the 6th row and I could see all facial expressions - hilarious!! Loved the movie, loved the show. Would go again and again... was warned by some friends - NO SINGING ALONG, aw, come on... truth be told, I didn't have time to sing along. Just enjoyed them way too much! First Class!

tid bits

Must say when I dropped off Y at camp on Sunday - I saw my old stalker. I made a very good show of pretending not to see him at all. Not even a glimmer of recognition. I was so busy ignoring him I probably missed saying hi to others i know!! His oldest is the same age as Y, and wife is a Menno, so it was bound to happen... can't wait till pick up on Saturday... Ok, he wasn't really my stalker, but you know the one...

Beautiful sunset tonight. What colour!!

Saw my brother at BHP. Told him to wish his wife "good luck" as she is meeting big wigs at her work tomorrow. He looked at me and smiled... and with confidence said "she won't need it" Nice. Big grin. :D Was nice to skate a bit with him tonight. And not just cause he pulled up the hill!

Looking forward to holidays starting this weekend!! CBFW here I come!

Going to Chicago tomorrow - YIPEE!!

Who Knew??

Who Knew:

That when I went to only a portion of my highschool reunion I would long to stay for all of it...

That the people I went to highschool with have grown up too...

Seeing old friends would bring a tear to my eye...

Singing happy birthday to my dad and my nephew would cause me to choke up (we do sound really good)...

Watering flowers and listening to the bugs buzz around gives me peace...

Trying to take a 13 year old shopping (for her) could make her mad...

Dropping my 11 year old at camp for the 4th summer in a row still make my heart skip a beat...

Playing crib with my 13 year old can make me laugh till my sides hurt (and fix whatever happened at shopping)...

I AM SO EXCITED

A friend has an extra ticket to CHICAGO the musical. Its only one of my favorite movies!!! 6th row centre!!! What a rush! I didn't think I would get to see it. At first I thought it was here when we were on holidays. Now this!! What a HOOT. Ok, I know a little crazy. But I don't get out much and this will be a top notch performance. Can't wait to hear "he had it comen" in all its glory! Hmmmm might have to get my CD out and brush up - I'm such a geek!

I've decided to go to my highschool reunion tomorrow. Just for 3 hours. Can't hurt I guess. I'm kind of looking forward to it. See what everyone looks like etc. Find out what they've been up to that kind of thing. I know I would miss it if I didn't go. Have to wonder if the guy I had a crush on all through highschool is still kind of stand offish, or maybe now he's balding... MEOW!! Oh well. Quite content with my life. Like Garth Brooks says "some of God's greatest gifts, are unanswered prayers". I'm pretty sure he answered mine at the time - he said NO... LOL :)

BHP July 11

Well we had a little race today at BHP. It wasn't too bad, only 31 degrees celsius. I think I drank 3 bottles of H2O. Had a personal best time for the season of 31.20. Which all things considered isn't too bad I guess. Good thing hubby was a full 10 minutes ahead of me. That means he gets to encourage me up the last hill. Really that is ok. Keeps me going - when my brain is about to say ENOUGH. He says encouraging things like "keep going", "that's it". Really that is all I can do. Just keep going. Someone always has to come in last, and I'm ok that is me, but I did notice that 1 or 2 people were less than 1.5 minutes ahead of me... so... perhaps I could go out a little harder, get in a pack... we'll see. I haven't done a time trial in a while (like 2 years!!).

I wiped out on Thursday at the track. Not too bad. Just a little road rash on the calf area. It just keeps tightening up quite a bit. So here I sit icing... this getting older sucks. Everything takes just a little longer to heal (if it manages to heal). One of the guys is a dr. I asked if it was normal for the leg to keep swelling. Sure - granted that you're not pregnant - he says. RESOUNDING NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I just don't think I could play that game again!! LOL.

Anyway, this heat is something else. We actually have the air on...

Brrr...

Slept with the window open last night. What a difference a few degrees make!!! High of 22 today, nice break from the hot hot. Back to that though in a day or two.

The kids were gone all last week at my mom & dad's. When they were little it was a like a break, we would plan evenings out and generally take advantage of the kid free time. Now its just kind of quiet when they're gone... the kittens sure missed having them around!! The kids had a blast though. Went to the beach, shopping, out for lunch. The kinds of things we never seem to have time for. Oh to be retired...

One great thing about this week is hubby has slowed down a bit. Mr. Workaholic has to take a break - its time - time for Tour De France! He tapes it daily to watch after work or before he goes outside to work on the yard. Its good for him I think!

Went to see Pirates of the Caribbean on Friday. Some of critics were not impressed, but I LOVED it (missed you Jay). Sorry, I'm getting distracted - Y is playing on the bed with the kittens - too cute.

Had supper at BTB's last night. FUN. Haven't had pizza in ages - I think I made up for that last night - YUM. Lots of fun, BTB had has nephew, neighbors and one of their friends over too. Good crowd. I stole BTB's cell phone and called lady J (insert smerk here). Had to leave a msg for her to come over, but no such luck. I'll have to meet her another time...

I think I have to clean my house today. Hate doing that on Sunday's but I just didn't get done yesterday. No rest for the wicked I guess. I'm missing church as I type. I guess that makes me doubly wicked??

One more thing. My 20 year high school reunion is this weekend. Can't go to the Saturday functions, but I could try and make the Friday evening thing out at the school itself. I just can't decide if I should go. Will I miss it if I don't? Do I really care anymore? Not sure... It might be nice to connect?? But not an earth shattering moment or anything... I'll have to think about it some more. Where in the world did 20 years go anyway????

And a good time was had by all

HAPPY CANADA DAY (yesterday). Well I forgot to sing O'Canada at the top of my lungs. But I think I'll be forgiven. Jay & family and BTB came over for a BBQ. Keep it simple they told me, what could be more simple then tube steaks. Gotta love it. Round 2 of the water war was a little shorter than round 1 but just as exciting. Double crossing, intrigue and tears when big L was not expecting to get wet. Sounds just about right!

All in all a good time. Little L is so funny, running about without a care in the world - he's so cute. And his vocabulary is expanding - you give him something and he says (no - not thank you) something like "p' pom pom" loosely translated - "your welcome" TOO CUTE.

This morning I looked out the window when I woke up and spotted van in my drive way - THAT'S RIGHT. They all slept over (oh wait, BTB bolted early...) excellent - more fun. ATV rides for those who wish and a walk for me & Jay. How content am I today!!!

Still have tomorrow off - doesn't get much better than that! (although an extra pay day could come along anytime -LOL)

3 more weeks till holidays!!!
